Not Medical Advice

Babella is an informational tool only. Nothing in this app constitutes medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns about your baby or yourself.

Babella is an information and tracking tool for parents and caregivers. The content you see in the app — articles, suggestions, AI responses, growth percentiles, vaccine schedules, vitamin and feeding norms, sleep guidance, dress recommendations, milestone trackers, and any derived insight — is for general informational purposes only.

1. Babella is not a medical device

Babella is not registered as a medical device by the FDA, the European Medicines Agency, or any other regulatory body. The app does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease, condition, or developmental issue. It does not replace a clinical examination, a doctor, a midwife, or a pediatric nurse.

2. Always consult a qualified professional

For any concern about your baby's health — feeding, development, sleep, fever, vaccinations, growth, behaviour, or symptoms — talk to a licensed pediatrician or your local healthcare provider. If you believe your child is having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately. Do not rely on the app to triage urgent situations.

3. AI-generated content

Babella's AI features (Ask, Focus Today, Weekly Analysis, Overall Analysis) produce text by combining your tracked data with a general-purpose language model (Anthropic Claude). AI responses can be incomplete, factually wrong, or inappropriate for your specific child or situation. Treat AI output as a starting point for conversation with a qualified professional — never as a clinical answer.

The AI is explicitly instructed not to diagnose conditions, prescribe medication or dosage, or recommend stopping/starting a treatment. For any symptom mentioned to it, the AI routes you back to your pediatrician.

4. Reference data and norms

Where Babella displays norms, schedules, or charts (WHO growth standards, AAP feeding norms, country-specific vaccination schedules, dental eruption ranges, sleep ranges, milestone windows), these are population-level references. Individual variation is large and normal. A child whose data falls outside a reference band is not necessarily unwell — and a child within the band is not guaranteed to be healthy. Always interpret norms with your healthcare provider in the context of your specific child.

See our Content & Sources page for the complete list of authoritative sources we draw from.

5. WHO & AAP guidelines

The app references guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for informational purposes only. These guidelines:

  • Are general recommendations for typical, healthy infants
  • May not apply to premature babies, babies with special needs, or babies with medical conditions
  • Are updated periodically; the App may not always reflect the most current versions
  • Are presented as reference information, not personalized medical advice

6. Growth & development tracking

Growth charts, milestone tracking, and developmental information in the App:

  • Are based on population averages and may not reflect your baby's individual needs
  • Are intended to help you notice potential concerns to discuss with your doctor
  • Should NOT be used to self-diagnose developmental delays or disorders
  • Variations from typical ranges do not necessarily indicate a problem

7. Vaccine information

Vaccination information in the app is for scheduling reference only. Country-specific schedules (US/CDC, UK/NHS, Canada/PHAC, Australia/NIP, Germany/STIKO, France, Türkiye/THSK, plus a WHO baseline) may not exactly match your local provider's recommendations. Always confirm with your baby's healthcare provider before scheduling appointments. The app does not constitute medical advice about vaccination.

8. When to seek immediate medical help

Always seek immediate medical attention if your baby shows:

  • Difficulty breathing or breathing very fast
  • High fever (especially in babies under 3 months)
  • Extreme lethargy or difficulty waking
  • Persistent crying that cannot be soothed
  • Rash, especially with fever
  • Signs of dehydration (very few wet diapers, no tears when crying)
  • Any symptom that concerns you

If you believe your baby is in immediate danger, call emergency services (911, 112, or your local emergency number) immediately.

9. What you log is your responsibility

The accuracy of any output, prediction, percentile, or suggestion depends on the accuracy of the data you enter. Babella does not validate measurements (it is normal for parents to mis-read a thermometer or a scale by a few units). If a recommendation looks off, double-check your inputs before acting on it.

10. Maternal health

Information in the Mom Care section of the app is for general wellness tracking purposes only. Postpartum health concerns, including postpartum depression, should always be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider.

11. No warranty & limitation of liability

Babella is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, including warranties of medical accuracy, fitness for a particular health purpose, or freedom from error. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Babella, its developers, and its affiliates disclaim all liability for harm arising from reliance on the app's content. Your use of the app constitutes acceptance of this disclaimer.

12. Consult your pediatrician

We strongly encourage you to:

  • Have regular check-ups with your baby's pediatrician
  • Share app data with your healthcare provider to help inform discussions
  • Ask your doctor about anything you're uncertain about
  • Trust your parental instincts — you know your baby best
